A First Look at the New All-Electric Jaguar GT

The wait is nearly over for the new Jaguar GT. After Jaguar’s major rebrand at the end of 2024, which definitely split opinion, this is the first proper look at what the brand’s future is going to be.

When Jaguar announced it would become an all-electric brand from 2026, it was a major change in direction. At the time, we saw a concept car that hinted at the future, but the new GT gives a much clearer picture of what the production model will actually look like.

The shape isn’t far off the Type 00 concept revealed last year. It’s long, low and dramatic, very different from the Jaguars we’re used to. At around 5.4 metres long, it’s a big four-door GT with serious presence.

Performance is where things get interesting. The new GT is expected to produce over 1,000 bhp with around 1,366 Nm of torque from a three-motor setup. That should mean 0 to 62 mph in roughly three seconds and a top speed of about 150 mph. For a large luxury EV, that’s serious performance.

Range is expected to be over 400 miles on a full charge, possibly up to 435 miles under official testing. With 350 kW rapid charging, it could add around 200 miles in under 15 minutes. If that holds true in the real world, it will make a big difference.

This car also introduces Jaguar’s new electric platform, called Jaguar Electric Architecture. It uses an 850-volt system and a battery of around 120 kWh. The GT will feature air suspension, adaptive dampers and rear-wheel steering, all aimed at keeping it comfortable but still sharp to drive.

Pricing is expected to start at around £120,000, putting it firmly in the high-end luxury EV market. We will likely see different trims and special editions follow.

The finished production version is expected to be revealed this summer, giving customers their first full look at the new GT. Orders are likely to open around the same time, with deliveries scheduled for 2027, meaning the car could be seen on UK roads as early as next year.

The key question is whether the GT will deliver on Jaguar’s relaunch. The rebrand certainly made a statement, and the performance figures are promising. Now it’s a matter of whether buyers are ready to get on board with the new direction.
